YOGA

Emily is the co-owner of YogaSource, a well-established studio in the Krishnamacharya lineage, with a robust offering of classes, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She teaches grounded, stretchy, rich classes designed to help students “bring forth what is [already] within” them.

Her classes focus on making the choice to be mindful: to tune into—and invest in—relationships with body, mind, breath, earth, air, and gravity as opportunities to explore deeper levels of awareness and build intimacy with ourselves, each other, and the gift of each moment in this astonishing world around us.

All spiritual journeys have a destination of which the traveller in unaware,’ said theologian Martin Buber. Most of us who start out on the yoga mat do not realize that, if we dedicate ourselves to the practice, it is only a matter of time until the mat becomes an altar.

CLASSES

All yoga classes taught by Emily are available in-person and online at YogaSource.

VINYASA FLOW TO THE MUSIC

Fridays | 9:00 - 10:15 am MT

Move, stretch, and flow with intention in this dynamic class. Vinyasa Flow to The Music is an invitation to explore your embodied experience through creative movement sequences that encourage openness and release. Set to a curated soundtrack, this class begins on the ground, moves through sun salutations & standing poses, and winds down to floorwork before savasana. Vinyasa Flow to The Music blends fluid transitions, breath-driven movement, and intuitive exploration to help you tune into sensation, expression, and presence.

ON THE GROUND

Fridays | 10:30 - 11:45 am MT

This class, entirely on the ground, blends active stretching, yin, and restorative shapes with strong yet accessible posture exploration. Gentle, breath-centered, and empowering, the practice invites you to move with intention—cultivating patience, awareness, and resilience without strain, all while staying grounded. With curiosity and care, students are encouraged to look inward, nurture attention, and discover the complexity and beauty of a full, floor-based practice.

GENTLE & STRONG

Saturdays | 12:15 - 1:30 pm MT

Gentle & Strong is a steady & strong yoga class with a gentle, supportive approach to such posture exploration. Gentle yet empowering, this practice invites you to move with intention, exploring strong actions in a way that feels accessible and sustainable. Each posture is an invitation to engage with stability and endurance while staying connected to breath and awareness. With an emphasis on patience, engagement, & curiosity, this practice helps build resilience without strain. Suitable for all levels, Gentle & Strong offers a space to support you in finding inner strength without force, allowing you to explore movement with grace and presence.

STRENGTHEN & STRETCH

Sundays | 7:15 - 8:30 am MT

This class is designed to help students take a step towards building strength. Through the lens of mindfulness, and using body-weight exercises and optional dumbbells, develop, practice, and repeat movement patterns to get physically stronger in both asana practice and in the activities of daily life. In the non-gym based setting of the studio, this class serves a vital functional movement need: to maintain muscle mass as we age, with a tailored approach rooted in breath-focused & alignment-based movements. As usual, all are welcome! Just as in any of our yoga classes, this class is a safe space for you to deepen your relationship with your body, meet the mind, get curious about discomfort, and explore movement through self-inquiry. Class begins with a dynamic warm-up, progresses into a series of full-body strength and conditioning exercises, winds down into a decompressing stretch series, and lands in the peace of savasana.

YIN

Sundays | 12:15 - 1:15 pm MT

This class utilizes long-holds of 3-7 minutes in yin postures to directly target the body’s connective tissue and amplify spaciousness. Though yin is conducted entirely on the ground, the modality is not restorative —students use compression, tension, gravity, patience, and time to explore their relationship with discomfort and build resilience.

POETRY CIRCLE

Sundays | 2:30 - 4:00 pm MT, online only

Come as you are to this weekly drop-in poetry circle—no experience needed, just a willingness to listen, write, and share. Each session begins with a thoughtfully chosen poem to spark inspiration. You'll have quiet time for generative writing, followed by the option to share your words in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. Much like we do in movement with asana and breath, this class, too, is a place to explore your voice, connect through language, and honor the creative process together.

MENTORSHIP & EDUCATION

Emily will be conducting six-month mentorship programs alongside a series of educational workshop for new and emerging yoga instructors.

Kind Words from Yoga Students

I've practiced under Emily's guidance for several years now and have come to CRAVE her classes and retreats. Her precise instruction, fierce encouragement, and sense of humor ensure that I am in great hands when she is at the helm. Not only have I developed a love for Yin practice (after years of resistance!), I continue to gain a deeper understanding of why we do the poses we do and why the study and practice of yoga off the mat is equally as important as when we are on it. I'm proud to be a member of the community that Emily has cultivated and always look forward to her offerings.

I've been practicing with Emily for several years but more recently at various yoga retreats she has led, and these experiences have been transformative. Emily always creates a welcoming and inclusive environment, whether online or in person and for all skill levels. Each class is thoughtfully designed, blending mindfulness, physical strength, flexibility and some good laughs. Her expertise and gentle guidance have significantly improved my practice and confidence. Every time I practice with her I leave feeling rejuvenated, more balanced and connected to myself. Emily is just an overall awesome human that makes yoga feel accessible and approachable - can't recommend her enough for anyone looking to start or deepen their yoga practice.

Emily is everything one could hope for in a teacher. She brings a mindful, grounded and inspirational presence to the teacher’s seat. When her classes center on a core concept, be it a question of philosophy, dharma or an inspirational bit of poetry, Emily beautifully weaves that core thread into the asana, seated meditation, and breath work. Emily can read a room, while still being attentive to the individual student, and people seem to leave her classes in a very centered and peaceful state, while often wearing a smile.

There is no yoga teacher who makes me feel more safe and welcome in a class, on the mat and in my body than Emily. The first time I took one of Emily's classes I knew I'd found a special teacher. It's inspiring to find a teacher so committed to their own path of learning and growing and ten years later I feel just as safe in Emily's classes, but the depth of what she offers only deepens. I enthusiastically recommend Emily's yoga classes to friends and clients. If you're lucky you will find yourself in one of her classes.

  • — Sarah M.

Emily is a delight. She brings insights from multiple styles of yoga and fitness classes as well as her love of poetry and literature to her practice. You will feel encouraged, not judged, and you will almost certainly be able to do something during the class that you didn’t think you could.

  • — Jane H.

Emily teaches with a full heart and generous soul. Her classes are thoughtful, warm and welcoming to all. Whether you are new to yoga or a long-time yogi, you will appreciate the depth of offerings she brings to the mat.

Yoga with Emily is truly a gift!! It’s not just yoga, her classes recharge your mind, body and soul. She is one of the kindest and warmest instructors I have met. Her classes are a safe space and create a sense of community where you can be vulnerable, try new things, release things that are no longer needed, and have fun!

  • — Laura S.

When I was just getting started with my practice, I tried multiple classes/studios/teachers but nothing ever "stuck" until I took an "Absolute Beginner" course with Emily, who was a new-ish teacher at the time. Eleven years and multiple overnight retreats later, I still call upon those foundational concepts on a regular basis. Emily is a gifted, natural teacher who makes so much space for you to be confident in individualizing your own practice, but also, will challenge the heck out of you in her favorite yin poses. Most recently at a day-long retreat, Emily laid her hands on my back in a long-held forward fold, and I couldn't believe the energy transfer that occurred. It was so powerful! Also, she will teach you how to exhale from the deepest depths of your soul. You are in the best hands with Emily!

I’ve been practicing with Emily for over 12 years. As Emily has grown in her own practice as an instructor, she brings new tools and modalities into her teaching and we all benefit from her hunger for continuous learning. She brings a level of compassion and generosity to all of her students, regardless of their level and/or ability. She’s very inclusive in her instruction and offers many different modifications and use of props. She also brings an authentic humanness and humor to the practice that keeps everyone grounded and not taking themselves too seriously. I’ve practiced with Emily in many forums - small group classes, large group classes, virtual classes, private sessions, and retreats. It’s an absolutely joy to share space with her!
